Message to all members

From the Chairman

MRS HEATHER HARPER, M.B.E.

Dear Friends and Members of the Bahrain Society,

Last week on October the 11th and after three years privation of meetings due in part to COVID-19 lockdowns, the Committee arranged an AGM and supper on HQS Wellington.

The supper was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, members of his staff and seventy of our members and guests. We were further delighted to welcome Miss Hajer Mohamed Ameen to the Committee and noted with regret the retirement of Enid Billington and Ian Grimshaw.

The event also marked the retirement as Chairman of the Bahrain Society of Brigadier Peter Sincock, MBE who has tirelessly worked hard on our behalf for over fifteen years and we will always be grateful for his unstinting service and vision. The Committee then approved unanimously the proposal of the Chairman that he be succeeded by Mrs Heather Harper, at the conclusion of the ensuing AGM and I accepted with much pleasure

As a long friend of Bahrain and with over ten happy years living in Manama this Chairmanship is a huge privilege and I know with the help of the Committee, The Bahrain Embassy and members together we will ensure that the Society thrives and grows.

I am committed to encouraging more to join our Society and will look at other ways and regional events so that all can meet and reminisce on our shared experiences. I will be accompanying the April 2023 visit to Bahrain which is being co-ordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to date we have almost thirty ‘Friends of Bahrain’ signed up to what is expected to be a super week and there are still some places.

Thank you for being a member of the Bahrain Society and please share details of our Society to any friends who may also be interested in joining in our activities.

Yours sincerely,
